Judy Kamilar is currently living and working in Brooklyn. She entered the art world after many years teaching High School Art at Erasmus High School. As a mid-career changer, she came to teaching after working as a Freelance Graphic Designer/ Art Director. Her experience in design and communication surfaces in the bold simplicity and sophisticated visual hierachy/compositions.

Her work focuses on celebrating the extraordinary in the ordinary, illuminating connections between random things while describing and celebrating the energy and chaos of life and messy human emotions.

The vibrant colors and simplified, organic forms and shapes create a complex simplicity to her work where your attention gets pulled in several places at once. She creates a dynamism along with a sense of place, space and movement- a definable moment frozen in time where recognizable emotions and questions begin to arise.
